Macro International Inc., an Opinion Research Corporation company (ORC Macro), welcomes the opportunity to assist the Federal Government in implementing Supply and Value Chain Management through the Logistics Worldwide (LOGWORLD) Schedule. Our company has served the government since 1985 in the design, development and installation of warehouse and distribution management systems. Utilizing the state-of-the-art technology such as industrialized radio frequency, data entry and barcode scanning devices, ORC Macro provides an array of services to meet your every need.

Supply and Value Chain Management Services (SIN 874-501)

ORC Macro has developed an expertise in the design, development and installation of warehouse and distribution management systems. We have delivered these services to public and commercial clients since 1985. In all cases, Macro has utilized state-of-the-art technology such as industrialized radio frequency (RF) data entry and barcode scanning devices in its services. In many cases, we have developed controlling software to manage and interface material handling hardware systems such as conveyors, carousels, automatic guided vehicles (AGV), automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), pick-to-light trees, and automated picking systems. Macro s services related to logistic and warehouse management systems (WMS) are categorized below:

Development of functional system requirements

Macro has worked with Fortune 500 clients, helping to identify potential system functions, with benefits and constraints of issues such as: barcode strategy, location numbering, data interface, order fulfillment, product flow, and worker assignment. This defines a unique logistics system tailored to each client s product, facility, and business practice.

Development and installation of customized warehouse management systems

These systems use radio frequency (RF) computer terminals and automate typical warehouse functions including: receiving, storage assignment, product putaway, order processing, picking, shipping, cycle counting, worker assignment, and productivity measurements. At a major contact lens distribution center, Macro developed and installed a system that controls over 100,000 sku s with lot numbers and handles up to 9,000 orders per day. At a major US Government distribution center, Macro developed and installed a system that services over 100,000 customers using forklift mounted RF terminals and sixteen carousels, operating in a facility with over 70,000 storage locations.

Consulting services for in-house developing clients

In cases where the client wishes to complete the project in house, Macro can assist by providing planning, system design, and installation services. In the planning stages, Macro can provide project justification, system requirements and equipment evaluation. In the design stages, Macro can define database design, functional flow, program logic, and data interface requirements. In the installation stages, Macro can produce test plans, conversion plans, requirements testing, and user training.
